In developing our vision we looked carefully at the scripture Luke 2:52. This is the story of Jesus being lost in the temple.

 

Jesus had accompanied his parents and family to celebrate the Festival of Passover in Jerusalem. Following the celebrations his parents returned home but somehow Jesus got left behind. He stayed in the temple and, when his parents returned and found him, he was with the teachers listening to them and asking questions. Everyone was amazed by his understanding. Mary and Joseph were obviously worried but were astonished by what Jesus was saying. Following this event Jesus went back to Nazareth and the story ends with the quote,

" The child Jesus grew and became strong; he was full of wisdom gaining favour with God and with people. "

 

A further exploration of the biblical underpinning- why is this such a key verse to us.

Our Christian vision, which is also intrinsically our curriculum intent, grows from Luke 2:52.

 In this scripture we hear that Jesus listened and asked questions, he was seeking knowledge and deeper understanding, maybe as he started to find his place in the world, as he started to understand his mission.  This is our vision for all of our pupils, to be full of wisdom.

 

In this scripture we hear that Jesus returned to his local community and grew strong, gaining favour with people. This is our vision for all our pupils, to be as a part of their community.

 

Also we hear that Jesus gained in favour with God. This is our vision for our pupils, to grow to understand God’s love for them and be a part of the global community.
